The Artist Mentorship Project exists to link artists of varied skill and professional experience, to strengthen connections within the arts community, and provide young and emerging artists with support as they pursue their individual career goals.

Artist Mentorship Project

The greatest art movements happen within community.

Emerging artists, jump in and find the support you need to reach your professional goals.

Experienced artists, contribute to the vibrant future of the Fresno art community by sharing your experience with the next generation of artists!

What’s the big idea?

The Fresno area is jam packed with incredible artists who are creating relevant work that represents the people and cultures of California’s Central Valley. With support from Measure P funding, we are on the verge of an artistic renaissance here and we want to be as efficient as possible in achieving our goals. Linking seasoned artists with student or emerging artists, we can share our experience and knowledge and help build the opportunities needed to grow

There is no fee to participate.

This seems kind of simple.

Yes. An artist mentorship will allow emerging artists to ask all the questions relevant to their work and goals and hear how another artist handled challenges throughout their career! While there will be opportunities to show your work and collaborate, getting started is all about supporting artists in this simple way.

What are the logistics?

To participate, fill out the questionnaire that corresponds with your experience, either Mentor or Emerging/Student Artist, and a facilitator will match you with an artist.

Come to the next Artist Mentorship Project event! These are held every six months and are a great way to meet other artists and hear an artist talk from one of our mentor pairs.

Once paired up, you will make plans with your partner to meet up once per month for a 6-month period. The possibilities are endless for your meet ups… studio visit, Art Hop, coffee… whatever works for you.

Sometimes it’s hard to ask for help. Let’s make it less awkward and link you up with someone who’s been there and done that!
